Your K9 AI Kids Watch has arrived. The box is open. Now let’s get it set up properly — from the very first step to your child walking out the door fully connected and protected.
This guide is written specifically for Australian and New Zealand families and covers the complete setup process accurately, including the binding step that connects the watch to the LAGENIO parent app.
Estimated setup time: 10–15 minutes.
What’s in the Box
Before you begin, check that your box includes everything:
- K9 AI Kids Watch
- Magnetic charging cable
- Card picker / SIM ejector tool
- User manual
- Warranty card
- Important notes booklet
What You’ll Need
- A Nano SIM card from any Australian or New Zealand carrier (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, or any other). Your SIM must have active voice and data services.
- Important: If you’re using a brand new SIM, activate it with your carrier before inserting it into the watch.
- Your smartphone (iPhone or Android) to download the LAGENIO app.
Step 1: Charge the Watch First
Before anything else, connect the magnetic charging cable to the watch and charge it until the charging indicator appears on screen. If the watch is completely flat it may need 10–15 minutes before it will power on.
Charging tip: For best battery performance, do a few full charge cycles (to 100%) when you first receive the watch. The K9 takes approximately 2–3 hours to fully charge and lasts 24–36 hours on a normal charge.
Step 2: Insert the SIM Card
- Use the card picker tool (included in the box) to eject the SIM tray from the side of the watch.
- Place your Nano SIM into the tray with the chip/gold contacts facing upwards.
- Carefully reinsert the tray back into the watch until it clicks into place.
Note: Do not use a sharp object on the microphone or air vent openings — only use the card picker on the SIM tray slot.
Step 3: Power On the Watch
Long press the function button (on the side of the watch) for 3 seconds until the screen lights up. The watch will boot up and display the home screen within a few seconds.
Once the SIM is detected and the watch connects to the network, the time will automatically sync.
Step 4: Download the LAGENIO App
The parent app is called LAGENIO. Download it to your smartphone:
- iPhone (iOS): Download LAGENIO on the App Store
- Android: Download LAGENIO on Google Play
Search for “LAGENIO” if the links above don’t open directly.
Step 5: Create Your LAGENIO Account
Open the LAGENIO app and tap Register with Email, then follow these steps carefully:
- Select Email register
- Enter your email address
- When asked for your Area / Region — select “Europe”
⚠️ Important for Australian & New Zealand customers: You must select “Europe” as your region — even though you’re in Australia. This is the correct server region for AU/NZ. If you select a different region (e.g. Asia), your account will not work correctly and accounts registered in different regions are not interchangeable.
Step 6: Bind the Watch to the App (The Key Step)
This is the most important step — it connects your K9 watch to the LAGENIO app so you can see your child’s location, manage contacts, and control all settings.
On your phone (LAGENIO app):
- Open the LAGENIO app and log in
- Tap Bind on the home or device setup screen
On the watch:
- From the home screen, slide left to open the app menu
- Scroll to find Bind and tap it
- The watch will display a QR code and a 10-digit bind code
Back on your phone:
- Use the LAGENIO app to scan the QR code shown on the watch screen
- Or tap to enter the bind code manually
- Wait for confirmation — the watch and app will sync within a minute
Tip: Make sure both your phone and the watch have an active internet connection during binding.
Step 7: Verify the Connection
Once bound, confirm the watch is properly connected:
- On the watch home screen, swipe down
- Look for the 🔗 chain-link symbol next to the battery percentage
- If you see the 🔗 symbol — you’re connected ✅
- If missing or disconnected — restart the watch and allow 2–3 minutes to reconnect
Step 8: Connect to Wi-Fi (Recommended)
Connecting the watch to your home Wi-Fi improves GPS accuracy and reduces SIM data usage.
On the watch: More → Settings → WLAN → select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Step 9: Add Contacts
In the LAGENIO app, go to Contacts and add the people your child can call and message. You can add up to 15 approved contacts. Only people on this list can contact your child — no unknown callers can reach the watch.
Step 10: Set Up SOS Emergency Contacts
In the LAGENIO app, go to SOS / Emergency Contacts and add up to 3 emergency contacts.
When SOS is triggered, the watch automatically calls each contact twice in sequence until someone answers.
How to trigger SOS: Long press the function button for 5 seconds. Practice this with your child so they know exactly when and how to use it.
Step 11: Set Up Class Mode
Class Mode disables calls and games during school hours — but location tracking stays active. In the LAGENIO app, go to Class Mode and set up to 4 do-not-disturb periods to match your child’s timetable.
Step 12: Set Up Safe Zones
In the LAGENIO app, go to Safe Zones and draw boundaries around locations like home, school, or after-school activities. You’ll receive an instant notification whenever your child enters or leaves a zone.
Step 13: Test Everything Together
Before your child heads out, do a quick test run together:
- ✅ Make a test call from the watch to your mobile
- ✅ Check GPS location shows correctly in the app (Accuracy depends on the network and signal strength in your area)
- ✅ Walk outside a Safe Zone to confirm the alert comes through
- ✅ Practice the SOS button so your child knows how it works
- ✅ Send a test SMS from your phone to the watch
