A little practice can help your child feel confident using their K9 AI Kids Watch when they need to contact a trusted adult.
The SOS feature provides a simple way to call your chosen emergency contacts without searching through the watch's contact list. Here's how to set it up, how your child activates it, and how to practise together.
What Is the K9 SOS Feature?
SOS is an emergency calling feature activated using the watch's function button. You can configure up to three emergency contacts in the LAGENIO parent app, such as parents, a guardian or another trusted adult.
Step-by-Step: What Happens When Your Child Activates SOS
Step 1: Hold the Function Button for 5 Seconds
Your child presses and holds the watch's function button for 5 seconds to activate SOS. It is a press-and-hold action, not a single tap. Show your child the button and practise the action together.
Step 2: The Watch Calls Your Emergency Contacts
The watch automatically calls the configured SOS contacts in sequence, with up to two attempts per contact until a call is answered. You can set up to three emergency contacts. Your child does not need to choose a number or navigate the contact list to begin the SOS calling sequence.
Step 3: Speak with Your Child When You Answer
Once the call connects, you can talk with your child through the watch's speaker and microphone. Ask what help they need and agree on the next step together.
How to Set Up Your Emergency Contacts
- Open the LAGENIO app linked to your child's watch.
- Find the SOS or Emergency Contacts settings.
- Add up to three trusted contacts and check their mobile numbers carefully.
- Let those contacts know they are part of your child's SOS calling setup.
- Arrange a supervised test so everyone knows what to expect.
Choose trusted adults who are likely to be available, and review the numbers whenever your family's contact details change.
Practise Together Before Your Child Needs It
A calm practice session makes the feature familiar:
- Explain that SOS is for situations where your child needs urgent help from a trusted adult.
- Show them how to hold the function button for 5 seconds.
- Warn your SOS contacts before making a test call.
- Practise answering and speaking through the watch.
- Discuss a backup plan, such as asking a nearby trusted adult for help if a call does not connect.
Can SOS Be Activated Accidentally?
The 5-second press-and-hold action helps reduce accidental activation compared with a single tap, but accidental calls can still happen. Teach your child to tell the person who answers if they activated SOS by mistake.
Important Limits to Remember
SOS calling depends on the watch being powered on, having a working SIM with active voice service, and having suitable mobile coverage. It also depends on a contact being available to answer. Keep the watch charged and test the setup before relying on it.
The SOS feature described here calls your configured contacts. It should not be treated as a replacement for contacting emergency services when urgent assistance is needed.
Confidence Through Preparation
The K9 SOS feature gives your child a straightforward way to try to reach their trusted adults. Correct contact details, a charged watch and a little practice help your family make the most of it while supporting your child's growing independence.
